Overview
The experience begins in one of the island’s striking volcanic landscapes before continuing to a welcoming countryside home surrounded by lush gardens and productive growing spaces. Here, guests are invited into a relaxed setting where seasonal cooking, local hospitality, and regional traditions naturally unfold.
Inside a characterful family kitchen, aromas from slow-prepared dishes and wood-fired baking set the scene for an evening centred around food and storytelling. Guests will enjoy a meal inspired by longstanding island traditions, featuring freshly baked bread, cheese-based starters, carne de vinha d’alhos (pork marinated in wine and garlic), homemade couscous, and sugar-cane molasses desserts.
The surrounding gardens are central to the experience, offering insight into the ingredients that shape local cooking. Depending on the season, guests may see or help gather produce and herbs used in the meal, including potatoes, beetroot, courgettes, aubergines, carrots, tamarillos, sweet potatoes, oranges, bananas, and fragrant herbs grown on-site.
More than a cooking activity or shared dinner, this experience offers a deeper introduction to island food culture — where recipes, hospitality, and a close relationship with the land come together around the table in an unhurried and welcoming atmosphere.
