Overview
Join us in a hidden corner of the Douro Valley for a private meal rooted in the traditions of rural life. In this secluded, off-grid kitchen overlooking the Douro River, everything is cooked slowly over a wood fire, using the same simple methods once found in Douro homes.
The experience begins with regional petiscos to share — traditional Douro sausages and local delicacies — followed by a comforting bowl of caldo verde. For the main course, enjoy a traditional mixed grill with roasted potatoes or, depending on the season, tender kid goat or codfish baked in the wood oven. Dessert is wonderfully rustic: a baked apple, slowly roasted in the embers of the wood oven.
Throughout the meal, organic Mapa wines and other local and regional wines are carefully paired with each course, finishing with artisanal coffee and a glass of Port.
There is no electricity, no other guests, and no rush. Just your group, the warmth of the fire, a table filled with the flavors of the Douro, and an extraordinary view over the river. Here, time is measured by the fire, the food, the wine, and the people around the table.
